The 2-acre site is located in a commercial and industrial area in Miami, Florida, about one mile northeast of Miami International Airport. Metal plating facility buildings and the site’s ground water treatment system are located on site. Businesses surrounding the site include a refrigerant distributor, a door manufacturer, an electrical parts manufacturer and several used auto parts stores. Two mobile home parks that include minority residents are located nearby. The Miami Canal is about two-thirds of a mile southwest of the site. Several other Superfund sites are located within a few miles of the site. The site has been the location of an active metal plating facility since the 1950s. In 1990, EPA placed the site on the NPL.
