blosenski landfill

ROUTE 340

The Blosenski Landfill covers about eight acres of a 13.5-acre site in West Caln Township, PA. The site operated as a landfill for disposal of municipal and industrial wastes from the 1940s to the 1970s. Solvents, paints, leaking drums and tank truck contents were dumped randomly into the unlined landfill. The Chester County Health Department ordered the landfill to close in 1971 and enforcement actions were taken against the facility. About 1,000 residents live within one-quarter mile of the site.
