The 74-acre Sidney Landfill site, situated in hilly terrain on the eastern side of Richardson Hill Road, is located approximately 2.5 miles southeast of Sidney Center and 3.5 miles northeast of Trout Creek. The site is situated on a drainage divide, located in a sparsely populated area and consists of a mixture of disturbed land, shrub land, and upland forest and zoned residential-agricultural. The landfill consists of approximately 20 acres, which had accepted municipal and commercial waste including waste oils from 1964 until 1972. A wetland area is immediately down slope from the site and adjacent to another National Priorities List site named the Richardson Hill Road Landfill site. Approximately 50 property owners reside within a one-mile radius of the site. All residences within the immediate vicinity of the site get their water from private wells or springs. Site Responsibility: This site is being addressed through federal and potentially responsible parties’ actions.
