The 4-acre site is part of a larger 35-acre area in a rural area of Island, McLean County, Kentucky. The entire Island area has been heavily mined for coal. Kentucky State Highway 85 borders the site to the north, a wastewater treatment plant border the site to the south, a residence borders the site to the east and an unnamed tributary to Cypress Creek borders the site to the west. Agricultural and residential land uses surround the site. From 1987 until 1990, Barmet Corporation operated a landfill at the site. In 1990, EPA listed the site on the NPL. Fencing surrounds the grass-covered site. The site is not currently in use.
