G AVE WEST - FREEMAN MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
The 14 acre Seymour Recycling Corporation site is located approximately two miles southwest of Seymour, Indiana. From 1970 to 1980, the site was operated as a processing center for waste chemicals. Wastes were accumulated onsite in drums, bulk storage tanks, and tank trucks. By 1980, there were approximately 98 storage tanks and 50,000 drums onsite. The facility closed in 1980. Surface drums and tanks and their contents were removed in 1981 and 1982. Approximately 100 homes are located within one mile of the site. Nearby private water supply wells for these residences have been disconnected and replaced with water from the city of Seymour water supply system.
