ROCKY FORD/JESTLAMB SCH RD JCT
The 90-acre site is part of a 126-acrea area owned by Madison County located east of Rocky Ford Road in Madison County, Florida, approximately two miles northeast of Madison. The site includes an 8.7-acre Yard Trash Area where disposal of large bulk debris associated with construction and demolition activities took place. Undeveloped land, agricultural land and rural residential areas border the site to the north, south, east and west. From 1971 to March 1980, the City of Madison and local industries disposed of waste at the landfill. Municipalities and several companies, including ITT Corporation, dumped waste material into the landfill. Madison County assumed operation of the landfill in 1980. In 1990, EPA listed the site on the NPL. Madison County currently uses the site for municipal purposes, including a recycling facility, storage for the county’s Department of Transportation, an aircraft hangar and a landing strip. The landfill area is fenced and gated.
