5150 PICKETTVILLE RD
The 52-acre site is located in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. The site includes a capped landfill area. Pickettville Road borders the site to the north and northwest, Little Six-Mile Creek borders the site to the east and southeast, and rural and residential properties border the site to the south and west. Site surroundings include industrial and residential land uses. In addition to the site, EPA’s Superfund program is addressing three additional areas in the City of Jacksonville: the Jacksonville Ash, Kerr McGee, and Brown's Dump sites. From the 1940s to the 1960s, a borrow pit for sand and a waste disposal facility operated at the site. In 1968, the City of Jacksonville began leasing the property for landfill operations, including the disposal of municipal and industrial wastes. In 1971, the landfill no longer accepted municipal waste and accepted hazardous wastes only. After inspections of the landfill, all waste disposal operations ended and the City of Jacksonville closed the landfill in 1977. In 1983, EPA listed the site on the NPL. The City of Jacksonville remains the owner of the site. The site is not currently in use.
